Team USA star Freddie Crittenden romped through his 110m hurdle repechage race to advance to the semi-finals at the Paris Olympics. Crittenden is among the fancied athletes for 110m hurdle success at the Olympics, though he delayed showing his hand as he finished in last place after jogging in his round one race on Sunday. The American did so in an effort to gain extra recovery on an adductor issue before competing in the repechage round on Tuesday. He explained: ‘They said it’s not an injury, just a lack of muscle activation, and I’ve been feeling some pain. I thought I’d come here, take it easy and thank god there was a repechage round, I had to come here, get through the line, I can look forward to the repechage on Tuesday, get top six and make it to the semi-final on the next day. ‘I wanted to get here and make sure it didn’t feel any worse and make it through and give it everything I’ve got on Tuesday. ‘If there wasn’t a repechage round, I probably would’ve just balls to the wall, run as hard as I could, crashed and burned, whatever happens.’ Paris Olympics: Heartbreak for Sarah Healy in 1500m heat fall And as Tuesday came around, Crittenden was up to the task as he bolted home in first place in a time of 13.42 in the repechage round, with Asier Martinez of Spain qualifying for the semi-final in second.
