Designing is not simply about putting aesthetically pleasing objects together – it is also about solving everyday issues. Of course, the beautiful look of it all is always an added bonus.
When Design Studio undertook the project of giving this residential apartment in Vadodara a meaningful interior design, it was a no-brainer to have contemporary modern aesthetics, but in a way that gave the home a royal character.
“We decided on using base colours and letting the texture and design speak for itself. Every nook and cranny of the house was intentionally designed and decorated,” says Ar. Ruchir Sheth, the principal architect of Design Studio.
The living room primarily doused in a scheme of neutrals like greys, whites, beiges and browns, glistens and glitters with the added golden trimmings and accessories. The two chandeliers, suspended on a reflective black false ceiling, as well as the quirky floral wall adornments add a touch of glamour. The two opposing walls are identical in their wood veneer and recessed black-stone fitting. The seating arrangement is ample with sofas, chair and elegantly dainty centre tables. The TV unit gains its character from the artful textured laminations and the velvet of panelled TV wall.

The dining area is furnished with a regal marble-topped table, surrounded by comfortable deep blue chairs. The chandelier propagates ambient lighting, giving the space a pleasant vibe.
The kitchen is an extension of the dining area. The small island on the corner, with its own pendant lighting, is the perfect breakfast spot. From acrylic sheet cabinets and drawers to the grey granite backsplash that seamlessly extends itself to the platform, the sleek modular kitchen is designed to be easy to maintain and clean.

In the Pooja room, the backdrop of a rich purple wallpaper contrasts fetchingly with the soft colours of browns of the ceiling and beiges of the floor and walls. The chandelier lends the room a soft glow, bathing it in peace and serenity.

In the first master bedroom, the French windows open up to tasteful patio furniture of wicker chairs and a coffee table. The first master bedroom enjoys the favours of an upholstered bedframe and a matching headboard. The golden trimmings complement the golden accents used in other accessories and lighting fixtures. The swirling lines of the wallpaper of the TV wall, along with the lilac bedside table and TV unit add a dash of colour to the space.

The second master bedroom is concocted in beiges and browns. The bedside table, the TV unit and the dressing unit brighten the room with their blue-grey colour. The use of glass on the wall behind the bed is a notable feature that makes the design come alive.

In this bedroom, the tanned leather lining on the wall and the low yet prolonged headboard, paired up with the grey bedside table and navy blue lamps is sophisticated luxury.

The fourth bedroom follows the neutral theme of the house, with the orange ethnic wallpaper making it stand out. The closet with the cubbyhole for display and storage is a truly unique feature.
“It is always a welcome sight to see your plans materialize into a beautiful home. But when functionality joins the bandwagon, you not only feel proud, but also feel like you truly fulfilled your purpose,” concludes ID Krupal Sheth.
